Johannes Dittrich

Principal

Dr. Johannes Dittrich is a principal at CRA’s European Antitrust and Competition Practice and based in CRA’s Munich office. He advises clients in antitrust, damages, and abuse of dominance cases.

He is experienced in all aspects of competition and antitrust matters before the European Commission, national competition authorities and national courts, focusing on empirical analysis and the application of econometric techniques to matters of competition law.

He has extensive experience in quantifying cartel effects in follow-on damages litigation proceedings across multiple industries including car parts, beer, coffee, and consumer products. Most recently, he has provided economic advice to Volvo and Renault Trucks in all stages of litigation in German proceedings.

He is also experienced in merger review proceedings as well as abuse of dominance and excessive pricing cases, having advised clients in industries spanning automotive, pharma, transportation, digital platforms, and retail.

Mr. Dittrich received a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Master of Science in Economic Research from the University of Mannheim and received his doctorate from the Center of Doctoral Studies in Economics at the Graduate School of the University of Mannheim. During his doctoral studies, Mr. Dittrich spent a year at the Economics Department of the University of California at Berkeley. In his research, Mr. Dittrich has dealt empirically and theoretically with the connection between pricing and information processing.
