EC unconditionally clears Amazon’s acquisition of MGM
On 15 March 2022, the European Commission unconditionally cleared Amazon’s $8.45bn acquisition of MGM, the studio that produces the Bond movies. The Commission found that the deal would not reduce competition either through horizontal, vertical or conglomerate relationships.
A CRA team including Cristina Caffarra, Uğur Akgün, Michael Muehlbradt, Tara Mampilly and Aonghus Ó Cochláin advised Amazon during merger review proceedings in multiple jurisdictions. The Commission’s decision follows the clearances in Australia, Brazil and Japan.
