Francesca Sala is a Principal at Charles River Associates, European Competition Practice. Since joining CRA, she has advised clients on multiple high-profile UK and EU cases, including mergers, abuse of dominance cases and litigation. Prior to joining CRA, Francesca spent over eight years at the Competition and Markets Authority and previously the Competition Commission. While at the CMA, Francesca has served as Head of Phase 1 Merger Economics, directing the economic analysis across a wide portfolio of merger cases, and as lead economist on complex Phase 2 investigations and litigation cases, including Private Healthcare and Anglo American/Lafarge JV.
Before the CMA, Francesca worked at REF-E, an economic consultancy in Milan specialising in regulation and competition in the energy sectors. Francesca has also been lecturer in Economics at Bocconi University and visiting research fellow at the London Business School and City University London. Francesca has co-authored various articles in the area of competition policy.
